Gong alternatives: 8 options compared by the job you need

By . Updated , published .

The right Gong alternative depends on the job Gong was bought for. For call recording and notes, Fathom or Avoma cost a fraction of Gong; for forecasting, Clari or Aviso; on Salesforce Core or above, the built-in conversation intelligence may already cover you; and if the real problem is a pipeline nobody trusts, a pipeline hygiene tool fixes it without recording a single call.

Prices are from vendors where published, otherwise from third-party trackers, read on 21 October 2026. Where sources disagree, both figures are given.

Recording and notes: Fathom, Avoma, Sybill

These tools join meetings, record, transcribe and summarize, and push notes to the CRM. They cover what many reps actually use Gong for, at list prices in the tens of dollars per user per month. Fathom's free plan is a common starting point. Sybill positions itself on execution: follow-up emails, CRM autofill and tasks from calls. None of them replaces Gong's deal boards or forecasting at enterprise scale.

Fathom

A meeting recorder with a free plan, which makes it the easiest to test on a real team. Third-party trackers list a Team plan around $15 per user per month billed annually or $19 monthly, with a two-user minimum, and a Business plan around $25 to $34. Good for notes and summaries pushed to the CRM; not built for forecasting.

Avoma

Recording, transcription and summaries, plus coaching and conversation analytics on higher tiers. Third-party sources disagree on the tier names and prices, from about $19 to $29 per user per month for the entry plans. Ask for the current tier sheet before comparing.

Sybill

Positions itself on execution rather than analysis: AI email drafting in the rep's tone, task capture, follow-up lists, MEDDIC autofill and next steps extracted from calls, according to its own comparison with Gong. G2 lists an entry price from $19 per user per month.

Chorus by ZoomInfo

Conversation intelligence inside ZoomInfo's platform. It makes most sense when you already buy ZoomInfo data; on its own, pricing is not published.

Conversation intelligence already in your CRM

If you are on Salesforce Sales Cloud Core or above, Salesforce lists conversation intelligence in the edition, with opportunity scoring and Pipeline Inspection. On HubSpot, conversation intelligence comes with Sales Hub Enterprise. Check what you already pay for before adding a vendor.

Salesforce conversation intelligence

Listed in Sales Cloud Core and above on Salesforce's pricing page. Its advantage is that it lives where the opportunity lives: no sync, no separate permissions. Check which call providers it supports in your org and how insights appear on the opportunity before ruling it in or out.

HubSpot conversation intelligence

Comes with Sales Hub Enterprise, about $150 per seat per month according to third-party summaries. Relevant only if your CRM is HubSpot, or if you are moving to it anyway.

Which teams should stay on Gong

A switch is not always the right call. Stay if most of these are true: managers coach from recordings every week; deal reviews start from what was said on calls; you use the forecast or engagement modules; and the platform fee is a small part of a large contract. In that case, renegotiate rather than replace: see the renewal section of Gong pricing.

Forecasting: Clari and Aviso

If Gong was bought for the forecast call, compare it with dedicated forecasting platforms. Clari, merged with Salesloft, prices by module; Aviso is AI-first with win prediction and forecast validation. More in sales forecasting software.

Pipeline hygiene: when the problem is the data

Sybill's review of switching conversations lists cost, modular complexity and a wish for tools that act. One more reason comes up in forecast reviews: the pipeline itself is not true. Deals sit in Commit with no buyer activity for weeks, close dates move without comment, and no call recording changes that unless someone looks.

TruthPipe does that looking every night: an integrity score per rep, the list of zombie deals (open, closing this quarter, no activity for more than 14 days) and the Clean Pipe without them, for $99 per month per org. It does not record calls or summarize meetings; pair it with a recorder if you need both.

The recorders are an order of magnitude cheaper than Gong, and they also do less: no platform-wide deal boards, no forecast module. The right comparison is the job, not the line.

What you lose when you leave Gong

Be honest about it before the switch:

If none of these were used day to day, the switch is mostly a saving. If they were, choose an alternative that covers the ones you need, not the cheapest line.

A switching plan in five steps

  1. List what is used. Ask managers which Gong views they open each week. Unused modules are the first saving.
  2. Overlap by one month. Start the new tool on one team before the Gong renewal date, not after.
  3. Check the CRM sync. Notes, call links and next steps must land on the right opportunity fields.
  4. Re-create the two or three reports managers rely on. If the new tool cannot, find out before the old one stops.
  5. Measure one number before and after. Forecast accuracy, time spent on call notes, or the number of deals without a next step.

By budget, for 25 users

Yearly budgetWhat fitsWhat you give up
Under $5,000A recorder on the free or team plan; native CRM forecasting; a pipeline hygiene toolCross-call analytics, deal boards from conversations
$5,000 to $20,000A recorder on a paid plan with coaching features; or Clari Copilot at the low endForecast platform, enterprise analytics
$20,000 to $50,000Clari forecasting, or a combination of recorder and forecasting toolSingle-vendor simplicity
Above $50,000Gong with bundles, or a forecasting platform plus a recorderNothing major; the question is fit

Figures are derived from the year-one table above; they move with each vendor's quote.

For small teams, and for large ones

Under 15 users. Gong's platform fee and seat minimum weigh most here: the low-end first year for 10 users, billed as 15 seats, is about $36,500, over $300 per user per month. A recorder with a free or low-cost plan, plus the forecasting in your CRM, covers most of what a small team uses, for a few thousand dollars a year.

15 to 50 users. The comparison becomes real. Price a full year of Gong with the bundles you will use, against a recorder plus a forecasting tool, and pilot both.

Above 50 users. The platform fee is a small share of the bill, and Gong's cross-call analytics pays off at scale. Alternatives compete here on specific jobs (forecasting with Clari or Aviso, execution with Sybill) rather than as full replacements.

Our position, stated

TruthPipe appears in the grid and is our product. It is not a call recorder, and it is not a Gong replacement for teams that coach from recordings; it is the option for teams whose real problem is a pipeline full of deals nobody has touched. Every other price on this page comes from the vendor or a named third party.

The short version

If Gong was bought for notes, a recorder replaces it for a fraction of the price. If it was bought for the forecast, a forecasting platform or your CRM's native forecasting does that job. If it was bought because nobody trusted the pipeline, fix the pipeline review first, then decide what you still need. In every case, price a full year, pilot for a month, and keep the metric you care about fixed while you compare. The cheapest option is the one that does the job you actually need, measured on your own team.

What to keep from Gong if you switch

The useful habits Gong builds survive a change of tool: reviewing two calls per rep per week, sharing good calls in a library, and opening deal reviews with what the buyer said. Write them down as team rules before switching. Most alternatives can support them; what gets lost in a switch is usually the habit, not the feature.

A trial plan that gives an answer in 30 days

WeekActionDecision input
1Install the alternative for one team; keep Gong for the othersSetup time, CRM sync correct
2Managers run their weekly review from the new toolDo they find what they used in Gong?
3Compare notes and next steps written to the CRM by both toolsQuality and completeness
4Ask reps and managers what they would miss; price both options for a yearA decision with numbers

Thirty days is enough to see whether the gap is a missing feature or a habit. Habits change in a month; missing features do not.

Questions to ask any alternative

  1. Which call and meeting tools does it record from: Zoom, Teams, Google Meet, phone?
  2. Where do notes and next steps land in the CRM, and under which user?
  3. Can managers search across all calls, or only their own?
  4. What is the retention period for recordings, and who can delete them?
  5. How does consent to record work in the countries you sell into?
  6. What is billed besides seats?
  7. What happens to recordings and transcripts if you leave?

How to compare quotes

  1. Price a full year, including platform and onboarding fees where they exist.
  2. Count the seats that need recording, not every CRM user: managers may only need viewer access.
  3. Run two tools side by side on the same team for a month.
  4. Keep the metric you care about fixed (forecast accuracy, time saved per rep) and compare against it.
